Mission

The mission of the ADS Program, and its sponsoring organizations, is to increase the supply of academically-qualified accounting faculty, with special emphasis in auditing and tax, who have recent experience in public accounting, at universities that provide talent to the profession.

Objectives

To achieve its mission, the ADS Program seeks to:

1. Influence experienced practitioners in auditing and tax to obtain their doctorate for a career transition to becoming a faculty member;


2. Provide financial support to enable selected qualified candidates to pursue a doctorate in accounting;


3. Encourage participating universities to increase doctoral enrollments in auditing and tax;


4. Provide a peer support network for experienced practitioners as they pursue their doctorates and make the transition to the university environment; and


5. To improve the educational preparation of students derived from the rich professional experience of the infusion of talent from the profession into the classroom.
